BUILD A BOOK
For self-publishing authors who require publishing support
Self-publishing is simply the author taking charge of the book publishing project management.

If you were an office project manager and reached a task you couldn't handle on your own, what would you do?

OUTSOURCE!
There is no shame in recognising where your skills are lacking and asking for help. If anything, this is a character strength!

Maybe you've got the cover design nailed, but you're petrified of tackling the more technical side of publishing, such as formatting and platform management.

This is where our Build a Book service comes in! See below how we can help support your publishing journey and allow your book to reach it's potential.
Editing
Book editing is a crucial step in the publishing process that transforms a raw manuscript into a polished work of art. We offer two types of editing at RCB:

Copyediting involves checking grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as well as ensuring adherence to style guidelines. Copyeditors dive deep into the text, scrutinizing sentence structure and word choice to enhance readability and eliminate any ambiguity.

Line editing hones in on the flow and style of a manuscript at sentence level. Line editing zeroes in on how each line reads, ensuring that the writing is clear, engaging, and impactful. Line editors work to enhance the author’s voice, tightening prose, eliminating unnecessary words, and improving sentence rhythm. They also look for areas where descriptions can be more vivid and dialogue can feel more authentic.

Formatting
Book formatting is the art of turning your finished manuscript into a beautiful book that you can be proud of. Formatting, or typesetting, ensures that your book meets industry standards for both print and digital formats. This involves organizing the text, setting appropriate margins, selecting fonts, and creating a cohesive layout that enhances readability.
This includes attention to chapter headings, page numbers, and paragraph spacing, making sure the book flows smoothly from one section to the next. For eBooks, formatting also involves adapting the content for various devices, ensuring it displays correctly on screens of all sizes.
A well-formatted book not only looks professional but also provides readers with a seamless and enjoyable reading experience, making it a vital step in the publishing journey.

Online Upload Management
Manuscript upload on a publishing platform like KDP or IngramSpark is the process of submitting your finalized book files for publication, marking a significant milestone in your publishing journey.

This involves preparing your manuscript according to your chosen platform’s specific guidelines, ensuring that all elements—text, images, and cover design—meet their requirements.
During this upload process, you'll typically need to choose your book's pricing, select distribution options, and fill in metadata like title, author name, and keywords to enhance discoverability. Additionally, you’ll review proofs and make any necessary adjustments before finalizing your submission.
This step is crucial, as it not only makes your book available to readers but also sets the stage for its visibility and success in the marketplace.

Many self-publishing authors struggle with this more technical aspect of the publishing process; each platform can come with it's own special... "quirks" which can be a nightmare if you don't know the upload portal inside and out. RCB can remove the technical burden from the final step in your journey by:

-
Preparing and uploading your MS to your chosen platform
-
Cover design upload
-
Provide specific keyword research for your book
-
Research and select specific book categories to enhance your book's best-seller potential
-
Provide a full platform handover after the work is complete; fully preparing you to pick up where we finish after publication
